Black History Month Celebration: 10th Anniversary - February 20, 2012
11-3pm - Join us as we celebrate Black History Month on Family Day. Enjoy cultural dances, songs and storytelling. Play traditional games, and try your hand at tie-dye. Participate in demonstrations on hair braiding, and henna tattoos, and so much more!

Ricky Magic - March 16, 2012
1pm Join Ricky Magic for an unforgettable Magic show! This show is geared towards family audiences and loaded up with comedy, magic, puppetry, storytelling, Pongo, the funniest bird puppet on earth, Pancho a live Magic Bunny, a magical prize for everyone to take home and lots of audience participation. For the grand finale Ricky will have a volunteer from the audience come up to the stage and have him/her suspended in midair.

Earth Day! - April 22, 2012
10am-3pm Celebrate out great planet with our temporary exhibit Watt's Up! Plant a vegetable, create a wind turbine, calculate your ecological footprint and more! Meet Kennedy's Kridders at 1pm and learn about these creepy crawlies and their environment! The Children's Museum will be running on reduced lighting this day.

Teddy Bear Tea Party - May 21, 2012
10am-3pm Join us on Victoria day for a teddy bear tea party. Bring your favorite stuffed animal and take them on an adventure around the museum. Enjoy cookie decorating and juice from 10am until supplies last. The Teddy Bear doctor will be in from 1pm-2:30pm to give your favorite teddy a checkup!

Week Long Events at the Children's Museum
Available during the holiday break and March Break week(s) including the two week Montessori March Break, our week long camps are filled with exciting adventures! As a member of HIGH FIVE, the Children's Museum is committed to excellence in children's recreation programs and provides a day camp experience where children are safe, special and empowered.
Pre-registration is required.
Campers arrive between 8:30am and 9:00am and can be picked up between 5:00pm and 5:30pm.
Dress for the weather and lots of messy fun. Separate indoor and outdoor shoes are recommended. If you’re coming for a camp during the winter months, don’t forget to pack a toque, gloves or mitts, warm clothing and boots for outdoor fun!
Campers should bring a nut-free lunch, a drink and morning and afternoon snack.
For a special lunchtime treat, we are running Healthy lunch on Tuesday and Pizza Day on Fridays! For planning purposes, we will not be able to accommodate last minute orders the week of camp. If you are unsure that you have signed up for hot lunch, please contact the museum and we will gladly verify for you. Send morning and afternoon snacks with your child on this day as only lunch will be provided.
We are committed to providing the best day camp experience for all children. Please advise us in advance if your child has any special needs. Subsidies are available to families in need.
Cancellations received seven days prior to the date booked are subject to a cancellation fee of 20%. No refunds will be issued for cancellations with less than one week notice.

Day Camps at the Children's Museum
Available on P.D. days and the summer, our day camps are filled with exciting adventures! As a member of HIGH FIVE, the Children's Museum is committed to excellence in children's recreation programs and provides a day camp experience where children are safe, special and empowered.

Voyage to the Edge of the Universe - June 25, 2012
June 25-29, 8:30am-5:30pm Blast off for a week of fun, discover the moon and become a backyard astronomer! Campers will learn about the planets, constellations, comets, meteors and much more! Hands-on fun will include creating a planisphere, making a real comet, dissecting meteorites and conducting experiments to imitate the lack of atmosphere in space.

Leadership Camp - July 2, 2012
July 2-6 and July 9-13, 8:30am-5:30pm Campers will grow in character as they learn how to help build self-esteem, leadership skills and to identify leaders in their life. Hands-on fun will include trust building & cooperative games, personal/self awareness activities encouraging expression through art and an opportunity to practice new leadership skills by running programs in the Children’s Museum with visitors and other campers.
Our young leaders will also enjoy two half-day trips to the YMCA Centre Branch location to participate in two great workshops: effective Communication Strategies and Team Building, led by YMCA youth leadership participants.

Hockey Hall of Fame - July 9, 2012
July 9-13, 8:30am-5:30pm Offered in conjunction with the Hockey Hall of Fame: The Ultimate Fan Fest exhibit, campers will have a blast practising basic hockey skills while playing modified versions of our nation’s favourite sport. road hockey, water balloon goal-tending and “rollie-cart” sledge hockey are among the games campers can enjoy. Campers can design goalie helmets, jerseys and Zambonis and explore the science behind hockey equipment and injuries.

Culinary Creation Camp - July 30, 2012
July 30-August 3 and August 6-10, 8:30am-5:30pm Eat, play, live! Offered in conjunction with Growing Chefs! Ontario and Andrew Fleet, campers will spend the morning cooking their own snack and lunch while learning from local professional chefs. During the active living afternoons, tweens will participate in sporting activities and learn about healthy lifestyles. Campers will cook off-site Thursdays at Covent Garden Market. This is the perfect camp for your young chef to learn culinary skills and healthy living in a fun, hands-on environment!

Jurassic Camp - August 13, 2012
August 13-17, 8:30am-5:30pm Travel back in time and explore a prehistoric world. Campers will participate in a variety of exciting, hands- on activities including walking in a dinosaur’s footprints, measuring a dinosaur, exploring fossils and conducting an ice excavation. Campers will create a fossil, make a flying dinosaur and create a Paper Mache dino egg.

LEGO - August 20, 2012
August 20-24, 8:30am-5:30pm The sky is the limit in this Lego building camp. Offered in conjunction with our Lego Master Builder event, campers will learn from an expert and participate in building challenges to engage their imagination and see who can construct the tallest tower and a Lego spaceship that will survive a flight. Campers will also test their problem solving skills as they pretend to be Lego people and complete missions without bending their knees or arms.
