The Warrior Womyn of Positive Drum are bringing stories and teachings to the Children’s Museum. Share in songs and dances from the Ojibwe and Haudenosaunee Nations and make your own special wreath to take home.
Positive Drum is a collaborative group of Warrior Womyn from different Nations, paths, and ages. We were brought together by the Positive Voice program at Nokee Kwe. With a common interest in learning our First nation songs, a group was formed. Together we learn and sing each other’s songs using hand drums and water drums. We continue to learn and are excited by what the future has to offer. We have performed at community events for the London Public Library, the Museum of Ontario Archaeology, the Laubach Literacy Provincial Conference, and MP Irene Mathyssen’s Canada 150 Award Celebration in 2017. We have been invited back to perform at the 2018 celebration. We have had a phenomenal year full of amazing opportunities and success, such as a nomination for the 2018 Jack Richardson Music Awards, as well as recording a CD recently at Western University. We are very humble and appreciate every blessing that has crossed our path this past year with this sisterhood/drum group.
