Free Family Fun Night

TD Free Family Fun Night is an opportunity for families to enjoy an evening of free admission, made possible by our friends at TD.

To help manage capacity and demand, advance registration is required. Registration opens every Friday morning at 10:00am for the following week’s event.

The London Public Library is bringing the magic in their shelves to the London Children’s Museum during Free Family Fun Night!
Explore the pages of new books and discover new adventures in the pages of familiar favourites. Visitors can sign-up for their very own library card, borrow books during their visit, play games and browse a selection of specially curated books.

Open Studio: DIY Wrapping Paper
Stamp, sticker, doodle, and design!
In this imagination-fueled Open Studio, visitors can create their very own wrapping paper using kraft paper, stamps, stickers, markers, and more! Explore patterns, play with colour, and composition as you create custom designs. Perfect for gifts, treasures, or just for fun!

Open Studio: Science in Motion
Experiment, build, test and discover!
In this Open Studio, visitors will experiment with the science of motion by building and testing spinning tops. Using everyday materials like cardboard, CDs, and markers, explore how gravity, balance, and friction affect the way your top moves. Do different materials change how long the top is able to spin? Drop-in and find out!

Open Studio: Hoop Gliders
Build, launch, test, and soar!
In this flight-focused Open Studio, visitors will design and build their own hoop glider using simple materials like cardstock, straws, and paper hoops. Test your creation to see how lift, drag, and gravity affect its flight, then experiment with fans to discover whether wind helps or hinders your glider’s journey. Aim for the landing zone and see how far your design can go!

Open Studio: Make Your Own Candle
Break, melt, mix, and create!
In this colourful Open Studio, visitors can design a one-of-a-kind crayon by sorting, combining, and melting pieces of wax into a custom creation. Explore colour mixing, choose your favourite shades, and pour them into playful molds to make a crayon that’s uniquely yours to take home once it cools!

Open Studio: Build-a-Coaster
Build, test, twist, and roll!
In this engineering-inspired Open Studio, visitors can design and build their own mini marble roller coaster using a variety of materials. Try flexible tubes, folded paper tracks, cardboard, tape, straws, or connectors to create loops and drops, then test your coaster with marbles or pom poms to see how it rides. Add your creation to our growing coaster park in the Discovery Lab for others to enjoy!

Open Studio: A-maze-ing Spheros
Design, build, challenge and solve!
In this maze-making Open Studio, visitors will design and construct cardboard mazes using cardboard construction tools before putting Sphero robots to the test inside their mazes! Drive a Sphero through the maze, or experiment with block-based coding to see if you can program the perfect path so the tiny robot can escape!

Open Studio: Beatmakers
Tap, connect, press, and play! 
In this music-making Open Studio, visitors will turn everyday objects into musical buttons using a Makey Makey. Tap tinfoil pads, press homemade buttons, or add your own creation to the soundboard and hear what sound it makes! As everyone experiments, each new button helps create a collaborative beat, powered by discovery and play!

Cut, layer, shine and discover!
In this Open Studio, visitors will explore how colour and shape interact with light. Cut and arrange colourful sheets into patterns, then laminate your design to see how the light changes as it passes through different layers.  Hold your creation up to a window and discover how light transforms your work!

Make a tiny book with a big idea!
Learn how to make your own zine: a mini booklet filled with drawings, creative writing, observations, and whatever inspires you! Using simple materials like paper and markers, create a Children's Museum–inspired zine to take home and share with your friends.
