Science Literacy Week!

From the ocean floor to the edge of the galaxy, explore how science connects sea and space!

During Science Literacy Week at the London Children’s Museum, visitors will launch rockets, study whale bones, create constellations, and discover the glow of bioluminescent creatures!

About Science Literacy Week
Science Literacy Week is a Canada-wide celebration of science, curiosity and the way they help shape our communities! Led by the Canadian Association of Science Centers, this year’s theme — From Sea to Space — invites you to explore everything from the mysteries of the deep ocean to the wonders of the cosmos. Through hands-on activities and stories, learners of all ages can dive in, look up, and imagine a future shaped by curiosity and exploration.

All programs are included in general admission and are free for members.
To ensure entry, members are encouraged to reserve tickets in advance, as walk-in availability is not guaranteed.

October 7, 2025 9:30 am to October 10, 2025 4:30 pm

Tuesday, October 7th

Rockets and Craters
Location: Above and Beyond
Blast off into experiments that explore rockets and craters! Visitors will engineer their own paper rockets and then launch them into the sky using the power of air before exploring how different properties change the impact of an object (like an asteroid!)

Wednesday, October 8th

Anatomy from the Ocean
Location: Collections
Investigate the size, structure and anatomy of the ocean’s biggest mammals: Whales! Visitors can examine and hold real whale bones and artifacts! Learn more about their anatomy, biology and even what they eat before trying to catch fish in the water just like a whale with a fun pretend filter feeding activity.

Thursday, October 9th

Stories in the Stars
Location: Star Lab
How can stars help guide us through the sea and space? Step inside our Star Lab for a guided star show and explore the ancient art of storytelling through the stars. Create your own constellation and see it projected into our night sky, just like sailors have used for navigation for centuries.

Friday, October 10th

The Brilliant World of Bioluminescence
Location: Star Lab
Discover the wonder of animals that glow! Learn how bioluminescence works in the ocean and on land, and how it’s different from other sources of light. Then, test your knowledge in a glowing activity under the night sky in the Star Lab!

Daily During Discovery Lab: Open Studio

Creative Chemistry: Invisible Ink
Location: Discovery Lab
Explore the hidden science in your art! Use baking soda and turmeric to uncover secret drawings in a colourful chemical reaction, just like revealing a mystery from the deep sea or outer space. Drop-in during Open Studio session times throughout the week!
