About Discovery Lab Workshops
Designed for curious explorers ready to dive deeper, these workshops offer hands-on learning in a focused, small-group setting. With guided instruction and limited capacity, participants build and explore new skills across science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
Workshops are free with the purchase of general admission. Workshop registration guarantees a reserved seat for the selected session, but a general admission ticket for that day is still required to enter the London Children's Museum. Workshop registration does not guarantee general admission availability on sold-out days, so we recommend booking both early. Caregiver supervision is required during every workshop session. Space is limited.
Discovery Lab programs are funded in part by a GlobalGiving grant made in partnership with 3M, as well as the Westminster College Foundation.

Stop Motion Magic
In this hands-on workshop, visitors will work together to create a stop motion movie using LEGO, toy cars, and a camera from the Discovery Lab! Participants will learn how stop motion animation works by capturing images frame by frame, exploring concepts like frames per second while carefully moving objects to create motion. Learn how to build simple phone stands, set up lighting and framing and animate!
After creating a group film, visitors will have the opportunity to try making their own mini movies! Families are encouraged to bring a phone to use, as we build simple phone stands, set up lighting and framing, and animate using the Stop Motion Studio app.
This workshop supports STEAM learning through creative storytelling, understanding motion and timing, problem solving, and hands-on exploration of digital media and animation.
